God is not happy. Texas GOP votes against background checks
The State Republican Executive Committee is comprised a of male and female from each of the 31 Senate Districts in Texas. They are mostly older white people. They are in charge of conducting the business of the party including resolutions.
(In contrast, the State Democratic Executive Committee has members from each district as well as 2 members from the Labor Caucus, the Asian-American Caucus, Black Caucus, Latino Caucus, Gay Caucus,Veterans, Women, Environmental, and young Democrats. We are a big, diverse, tent.)
After the latest mass shooting in Odessa which left 7 families mourning the death of their loved ones and many other families saddled with massive bills to treat their gun shot wounds the State Republican Executive Committee took action.
The SREC voted unanimously on a resolution to oppose enhanced background checks and any type of red flag laws.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas calls upon members of the Texas Congressional Delegation and members of the Texas Legislature to firmly reject Enhanced Background Checks and Extreme Risk Protective Orders as nothing but cleverly devised infringements of the God-given and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas strongly rejects any implementation of Red Flag laws or Enhanced Background Checks should there be a Special Session of the Texas Legislature; and
FYI. I talked to god last night. He said he never gave anyone a right to bear arms. "The SREC doesn't speak for me. They speak for the NRA only. Texas has had 5 mass shooting in 6 short years, Odessa, El Paso, Santa Fe, Sutherland, Dallas, which left 10 students, 6 police officers, 27 worshipers, 22 shoppers, 7 drivers, dead and the republicans in Texas have done nothing. So please tell them I said to STFU gdamnit"

When liars lie just like Trump. Tony Buzbee and Bill King
It's the new campaign strategy for the Republican Party. Lie. Just lie. Over and over again.
The Houston Chronicle quickly fact checked Tony Buzbee and Bill King when they made claims about Houston crime statistics:
Tony Buzbee and Bill King are just following the republican game plan. Lie. Look straight at the camera and lie. Like Trump, Buzbee has become good at this, taking a single personal experience and claiming it represents the entire city. It's a great Trump move.
And I'm not lying.
The Houston Chronicle quickly fact checked Tony Buzbee and Bill King when they made claims about Houston crime statistics:
“I know what’s going on in this city,” Buzbee said. “Don’t tell me crime is going down when everybody across the country knows that Houston is one of the most dangerous cities in the United States.”
Bill King, another prominent mayoral contender, has decried a “growing randomness and violence to crime that alarms people.”According to the Chronicle this simply isn't true. The article cites multiple crime statistics showing Houston's crime had dropped and we, by far, are not one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. But this is what Trump candidates do. They lie and they repeat their lies. They know that the era of just plain lying works. Look at their leader, Trump. He lies on a daily basis. He is now lying about the lies he has previously lied about. It is a way of life for Trump. And Buzbee. And King.
Tony Buzbee and Bill King are just following the republican game plan. Lie. Look straight at the camera and lie. Like Trump, Buzbee has become good at this, taking a single personal experience and claiming it represents the entire city. It's a great Trump move.
“Have you had a break-in?” he said, in response to questions about his statements. “Have you had your car window smashed in? Most of the time, the police do not respond to these types of crimes, and they rarely get solved.”The Chronicle cites multiple statistics to debunk his stupidity. Too many to quote here.
And I'm not lying.

You shouldn't be running for office if.....
I've said this before:
It annoys the crap out of me when people run for office because someone said to do so. Organizations such as Run for Something, Justice Democrats, and others do not help. They tend to encourage the politically ignorant candidates who do not know what the office they are running for actually does. They have no idea of how much money they need, where they will get it, or how to get it. They have no idea how to run a campaign, who will be their volunteers, how to motivate them to stick with them and block walk in the hot sun. They have no idea of what they would be required to do, even if in the long shot, they were elected. And many have no understanding of the laws that are required to be followed before raising or asking for money.
At the very least, if someone has no idea of the office they are running for, please do not run. Here is an example of all that put into one post. Do us a favor. Do not run.
It's not a game. Running for office is not a game. The position has a direct impact on people's lives whether it is timely trash collection or providing a safe neighborhood with our police and our fire fighters. Don't cheapen the office by running just for the sake of running and distracting from those who have a clear understanding of what they are doing and are qualified to run.

Little Baby Briscoe Cain's Law Firm: Death Threats are free speech
Little Baby Briscoe works as a Senior Attorney at Fulton Strahan Law Group. They issued the following press release in support of Cain's right to make threats towards a candidate for President of the United States.
You would think lawyers would know that free speech does not include making threats toward other Americans, or towards a candidate for President especially by a State Representative. Free speech does not mean you can yell FIRE in a crowded theatre. Our free speech has always been limited. Briscoe has the right to make threats. He also has the right to suffer the consequences.
Even I know that. Maybe the lawyers at Fulton Strahan might want to pick up a copy of the Constitution. And read it.
"The Founding Father of the firm is a decorated war veteran who served this country so that people can enjoy basic constitutional rights like freedom of speech."

Think Republicans are going to sanction Little Baby Briscoe for his threat toward O'Rourke?
Don't hold your breath.
After the mass shooting which left 27 dead at the Sutherland Church, the Republican leadership did nothing.
After the mass shooting in Dallas which left 5 police officers, dead the Republican leadership did nothing.
After the mass shooting in Santa Fe which left 10 students and 2 teachers dead, the Republican leadership did nothing.
After the mass shooting in El Paso which left 22 shoppers dead, the Republican leadership did nothing.
After the mass shooting in Odessa which left 7 dead, the Republican leadership did nothing.
So if you think the republican leadership in Texas is going to call for Little Baby Briscoe's resignation, or remove him from his committee positions, or refer the issue to the Harris County DA's office or to the FBI, you really haven't been paying attention.
The Republican leadership will do nothing.

The loser of the #DemocraticDebate: Medicare for All
Stick with me for a second.
Back in 1989 VP Dan Quayle called for a trip to Mars. Everyone was excited by the bold, courageous announcement....until they learned the price tag and realized it was technically impossible at the time. 20 years later nothing has changed.
Medicare for All is similar. The activists of the left, led by Bernie Sanders, is giddy as a freshman going to the jr/sr prom about the idea of M4A but they fail to realize they are not the only ones that will determine the nominee and their ideas. The other voters in the Democratic Primary understand how much it will cost and are uneasy about how much it will cost them. They realize it is not feasible anytime soon. It's one thing to call for a bold and courageous endeavor like going to Mars or Medicare for All. It's another thing to have the money and the ability to actually make it a reality.
Sanders can't make it a reality. Sanders has a long history of not being able to champion major legislation. He is the last person who could make M4A a reality. Warren, even with a better track record of accomplishments, has hitched her wagon to this boat anchor and eventually it will cost her.
The other candidates call for an improved Affordable Care Act with various options to allow consumers to choose their coverage. Biden, Amy, Beto, Castro, Buttigieg, Harris, and even Yang who doesn't know his ass from a stethoscope called for a combination of Medicare and the ACA. It's a better plan that is achievable.
Medicare for All is not for everyone. It shouldn't be. It's on life support.

What the hell is wrong with you? "Little Baby" Briscoe Cain
There is a State Representative from Deer Park Texas. He is called "Little Baby" Briscoe Cain. Baby Briscoe is one of those people you want to look at and ask "What the fuck is wrong with you?". Last night would have been a good night to do it.
After the Democratic debate our own little baby Briscoe threatened a Presidential Candidate and fellow Texan, Beto O'Rourk with a tweet referrencing his little AR-15. This isn't Baby Briscoe's first Muttin Busting competition.
A few years ago he was flashing g his concealed handgun at the Texas Democratic Convention which got his little ass thrown out of the convention center. His mother was called to pick him up. She stated:
This isn't a fuckin game.

I intend to whoop his ass once I get him home."Little Baby Briscoe is going to get another ass whoopin and he should. He should be visited by the FBI. He should be charged with making a threat. He should resign. He should lose his law license. He should be treated like every other immature gun nut idiot who issues a threat to a Presidential candidate.
This isn't a fuckin game.

Recap of the #DemocraticDebate Part I
This was a good night for the Democrats except for just a couple of things. They can all be fixed.
Yang.
Yank Yang. It's time. He thinks this is a game. He adds nothing to the conversation. He has no path to winning the nomination. Lets move on. Lets also cull the field. Yang, Castro, Booker will not get the nomination. Enough.
Medicare for All is on life support
M4A took a hit starting with Biden. Amy, Harris, Castro, Buttigieg, and even Beto piled on each calling for something other than M4A. Each wanted the insurance industry to compete with a public option. Each wanted everyone to be covered but not with a government takeover. M4A took a hit tonight.
Castro
There are those who can attack and be effective. He can't and he didn't. He looked petty.
Gun Control
It is clear the Democrats want something done and will do it. Beto calls for a mandatory buy back and he has a very good point. These are weapons designed to kill people, nothing else. They do not belong on our streets. Most agree. It's time we do something and the only way to do it is to wipe out every republican in office.

What we want to hear tonight at the #DemocraticDebate

We are tired of mass shootings in Texas where we have guns on demand. In just 6 short years we have lost students, shoppers, worshipers, bystanders, and police officers due to gun violence using military style weapons. We are tired of wondering if we will be next. Our leadership calls for thoughts and prayers and round table discussions. The thoughts aren't working. The prayers go unanswered. The round tables end in no action. They have done nothing.
There is a humanity crisis on our borders which our leaders have ignored year after year using it for campaign fodder instead of solving the issue. Trump has made it worse. Horribly and deadly worse. Again we need adult supervision.
Our healthcare costs continue to skyrocket even after we passed massive tort reform 15 years ago with the promise of more healthcare providers providing more competition and lower rates. It didn't work. We have the highest number of uninsured in the nation. Costs are too high. Our state is sick.
So tell us what you are going to do to end the violence, solve our humanity crisis on the border, and to insure our families are cured when they are sick and stay healthy.
We are listening.

What we don't need to see at the #DemocraticDebate
OK. I am easily distracted.
Many watching the debates are too and it's a real problem especially for the politically ignorant independent voters who are looking for any simple minded excuse to say "I just don't like her". Or him. For them it doesn't matter if they are the most qualified individual to ever run for the position of President of the United States. What matters is that little thing they just don't want to get over like the atomic wedgy the candidate gave them in Jr. High. Or when they stole their date to the Jr/Sr prom. Little things like that.
So with that in mind there are a few distractions I hope the candidates can get rid of:
Bernie Sanders: Put that damn finger away. You are going to poke someones eye out!
Elizabeth Warren: Stop shaking your head. Not every answer to a question needs to be accompanied with a head shake. Stand still for once!
Beto: You do not need to shake a fist every point you are making. Sit on your hands.
Yang: Shut up and get off the stage.
Castro: When you get angry you tend to force being angry. It doesn't look genuine.
Amy: OK. I have nothing.
Biden: Get back to being that guy running for VP when you debated Paul Ryan. Other than that I have nothing.
Buttigieg: I have nothing.
So there. Quit it.

Tony Buzbee's donations. In detail. (He is a trump republican)
Make no mistake about Tony Buzbee. He is a republican except when it comes to his profession. Don't buy into anyone saying he plays "both sides". That really isn't true. But don't take my word for it. Look at the reports from the Federal Elections Commission and the Texas Ethics Commission.
On the Federal level Buzbee has donated over $589,600 with only $25,000 going to the Harris County Democratic Party to help wipe out all the republican judges that could rule on his cases. This does NOT include his $500,000 donation to Trump's inauguration committee. Here is the data from the Federal Elections Commission website:
Now here is the data from the Texas Ethics Commission. $1,034,581.69 with $225,000 to Greg Abbott, $80,000 to Rick Perry, $179,000 to Democrats including $80,000 to the Harris County Democratic Party, to wipe out the Republican judges in Harris County.
